The Katana Revolution

Unveiled in 2016 during Roland’s groundbreaking The Future. Redefined online streaming event, the Katana series was the first extended amplifier range created under the BOSS name. Designed for a pro-quality experience at an accessible price point, Katana amplifiers were an immediate success, thanks to their dynamic feel and response, wide selection of onboard BOSS effects, and class-leading features.

Over 1.5 million Katana amplifiers have been sold through 2026, and the lineup remains a preferred choice for everyone from beginners to seasoned professionals.

Pursuing the Ultimate Rock Sound

Adopting the name of the traditional sword carried by the historic samurai of Japan, the Katana series was crafted to deliver smooth, cutting tones honed by generations of dedication and expertise. Evolved from the development process behind the high-end Waza amplifier, the Katana lineup continues to advance and expand, embodying BOSS’s determined pursuit of the ultimate rock sound through focused craftsmanship, proprietary circuit designs, and meticulous fine-tuning.

Real-Deal Tone and Feel

Key to the success of the Katana series is the advanced BOSS Tube Logic design philosophy, which authentically delivers the coveted sound and feel of classic tube designs. Every stage-class Katana model features a reactive analog power section that works in complete harmony with the speaker, creating the magical, highly interactive playing experience that’s inspired the finest guitar performances in history and remains favored by serious players everywhere.

Extreme Versatility

Katana amps are incredibly versatile, with selectable amp characters that offer tones ranging from sparkling clean to aggressive high-gain metal and everything in between. Sounds can be further enhanced with effects from the historic BOSS library and saved in memories for instant recall. Variable Power Control on most models enables expressive cranked-amp sounds at moderate levels, while advanced connectivity supports deep external control, direct feeds for stage and recording, and much more.

Premium Performance, Exceptional Value

While many modern amplifiers offer multiple sounds and onboard effects, none can hold a candle to the Katana series. Each Katana amp is built on the DNA of decades of rigorous BOSS development, which continues to lead the industry through intensive research and innovative design approaches. From the beginning, BOSS has remained dedicated to producing exceptional guitar tools for players of every level and developing tough, easy-to-operate products that provide peak performance for years on end.

The Ultimate Katana Experience

The Katana Artist Gen 3, Katana Artist Head Gen 3, and Katana Cabinet 212 Waza are the top-tier models in the Katana lineup, offering high-performance components, upgraded construction details, and advanced features for discerning stage and studio players. The special 10th anniversary versions include the same core elements, framed by stunning blue flame maple finishes that evoke the vibe of high-end custom guitars.
