VG-800 System Program (Ver.1.02) HOW TO KNOW THE VERSION Before you start, check the system program version of your VG-800. While holding down [ EXIT ] button, turn power ON. *Continue to hold down EXIT until the VG-800 logo appears on the display. After a short while, the version information appears on the display. WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO UPDATE YOUR VG-800 VG-800 USB cable * The update is carried out with the unit and the computer connected via USB. Provide a cable suitable for connection to the computer you're using. Computer (Windows or Mac) equipped with a USB port compliant with USB 2.0 CAUTION WHEN PERFORMING THE UPDATE If you update on the normal mode of VG-800 against the correct procedure, this update data may destroy the system program. Never power-off your VG-800 while the update is in progress! If a power failure or similar accident occurs during the update process, the VG-800 won’t be able to start up in normal operating mode. This will require servicing, so you will need to contact Roland service center near you if this occurs. We regret that we are unable to answer questions regarding the update procedure using this system program. Please perform the update responsibly, following the directions given in this document. PROCEDURE FOR THE UPDATE Hold down [ MENU ] button and turn on the power. * Continue to hold down MENU until "VG-800 UPDATER" appears on the display. Connect the computer to the VG-800's USB port by a USB cable. Open the "VG-800" drive folder in your personal computer. With Windows Within My Computer (or Computer), open "VG-800" (or Removable Disk). With macOS On the desktop, open the "VG-800" icon. Download the file named "vg800_sys_v102.zip". Please open/extract the downloaded "vg800_sys_v102.zip" file on your computer to get the update file in the "vg800_sys_v102" folder. Copy (drag and drop) all files in the "vg800_sys_v102" folder into the root directory of the "VG-800" drive. After the copy has been completed, unmount or remove the drive on your computer. With Windows Right-click on the "VG-800" icon in My Computer (or the "Removable Disk (*:)" icon) and execute "Eject." With macOS Drag the "VG-800" icon to the Trash icon in the Dock. Disconnect the USB cable. The update process will start. The message "UPDATE SUCCEEDED" will appear on the display when the update process completes. Turn the VG-800 power off. Follow the procedure for verifying the version to verify that the version has been updated. Unauthorized copying, uploading to another network, distributing, modifying and/or attaching this software to other media or any other sales item is expressly forbidden. (b) You shall not loan, rent, lease, sublicense or transfer the SOFTWARE, either in whole or in part, to any third party. But you may permanently transfer the SOFTWARE and accompanying printed materials provided you retain no copies of the Software and recipient agrees to the terms of this License Agreement. If the SOFTWARE has been updated or upgraded, any transfer of the SOFTWARE must include the most recent update and all prior versions. (c) If this SOFTWARE contains multiple templates of media (such as floppy disks and CD-ROM) and these media contain the same software, you may use only the one form of media that is appropriate for your computer. You shall not use the remaining form(s) of media on another computer. (d) You may not use the Software from multiple locations of a multi-user or networked system at any time. 3.2 Open source software and other third party software (a) The SOFTWARE may use open source software and other third party software (herein referred to as "OSS, etc."). (b) The OSS, etc. in the case of the preceding paragraph shall be subject to the OSS, etc. license (herein referred to as "OSS License"), and you shall comply with the OSS License. (c) If there are any differences between the terms of this License Agreement and the OSS License, the OSS License shall prevail and the terms of this License Agreement shall not apply. 4. NO WARRANTY Roland makes no warranty, either expressed or implied, with respect to any of the software, including, without limitation, any implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. 5. NO LIABILITY Roland can not reply to inquiries regarding this system software updater. Please read the instructions completely, and please note that you should use the SOFTWARE AT YOUR OWN RISK. In no event shall Roland be liable to end-users for any damages whatsoever, including but not limited to financial damages for any loss of profits or information arising from the use of, or inability to use this product. Upon such termination, you shall immediately stop using the SOFTWARE. 7. GENERAL (a) Any provision of this Agreement which is prohibited or unenforceable in any jurisdiction shall be ineffective to the extent of such prohibition or unenforceability without affecting, impairing or invalidating the remaining provisions hereof. (b) This License Agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of State of California without reference to the principles of conflicts of laws.
