WL-60 FAQ

Q: Does the channel set using the transmitter remain after the power is turned off?
A:
The set channel is saved in memory even when the power is turned off or the batteries are removed.

Q: If I have two WL-60T units and connect the second transmitter to a sub-guitar, set the channels to match, and put it in standby, will I be able to use the setup right away just by turning on the power?
A:
Yes, this is possible.
You can turn off the power to the first transmitter and use the setup right away just by turning on the power to the second transmitter.

Q: The transmitter easily comes off from guitar strap. Is this a malfunction?
A:
Insert the guitar strap all the way into the clip of the transmitter, as shown in the photo.

Q: The channel display on the transmitter goes dark. Is this a malfunction?
A:
The channel display on the transmitter (WL-60T) automatically goes dark after a certain time has passed. Press any the buttons in the transmitter, then it displays the current channel number.

Q: Sound drop-out occurs.
A:
Are there another receiver and transmitter or a Wi-Fi router nearby?
Move the Wi-Fi router to at least 3 meters from the receiver.

Try a scan again.
If the problem still happens, check the signal status, including whether whether the channel conflicts with another wireless system or some radio-wave congestion happening on the 2.4 GHz band. To eliminate the radio-wave congestion, turn off the power to any Wi-Fi routers, Bluetooth devices, and microwave ovens not in use, then rescan.

Q: How can I use multiple WL-60 at the same time?
A:
To prevent interference in the wireless communication, carry out the following procedure.
1.Turn off the power to the WL-60 and WL-60T.
2.Turn on the power to the other wireless system and set it up so that audio plays without problem.

- WL-60: 1st unit
3.Turn on the power to the WL-60 receiver, and perform a scan to set the channel.
4.Turn on the power to the WL-60T transmitter and set it to the same channel as the receiver.

- WL-60: 2nd and subsequent units
5.Repeat steps 3 and 4.

Q: The sound from another guitar is heard.
A:
The set channel is already in use. Change to different channel.

Q: No sound is heard when I play the guitar to which the transmitter is connected.
A:
Check the following points.
  • Check to make sure the transmitter's channel matches the receiver's channel.
  • Check whether the radio reception strength is weak on the channel set for the receiver.
  • Check whether the "SIG" symbol is shown on the receiver's display while playing.

If the "SIG" symbol is displayed
The sound is reaching the receiver. The cause might exist in the output from the receiver or the amplifier. Check the following points.
  • Reconnect the cable to the receiver and the amp.
  • Check whether master volume knob of the amp is turned up.

If the "SIG" symbol is not displayed
The sound is not reaching the receiver. Check the following points.
  • Change to different channel.
  • Reconnect the cable to the transmitter and the guitar.
  • If a cable is connected to the INPUT jack on the receiver, disconnect it.
    * Input signal from a device connected to the INPUT jack takes priority.
  • If the receiver and guitar are located far apart, try moving them closer together.
    * Obstructions can make the connection unstable.

Q: What kinds of guitars can the transmitter (WL-60T) be used with?
A:
You can use it with electric guitars as well as electric basses and electric acoustic guitars.

Q: Can I connect the WL-60 to a wireless transmitter other than the WL-60T?
A:
This is not possible.

Q: How far does the WL-60 work?
A:
It varies according to the characteristics of the surrounding building, the placement of the unit, and usage of other radio transceivers on the 2.4-GHz band in the area, and so stating a definitive distance is not possible, but as a general guide, a distance of about 20 meters can be expected.
* The distance might be shorter depending on the level of radio-wave congestion on the same 2.4-GHz band. The distance might also be longer in environments conducive to transmission on the 2.4-GHz band.

Q: Can a normal 1/4” guitar cable be used, without using the wireless functionality?
A:
An electric guitar can be used via a direct connection to the INPUT jack on the WL-60.
* When connecting a normal 1/4” cable to the WL-60's INPUT jack, no sound is played from the electric guitar to which the transmitter is connected.

Q: Is it possible to purchase the dedicated transmitter (WL-60T)?
A:
Yes, it is.
Purchase the WL-60T.

Q: How to supply the power to the WL-60?
A:
The following methods are possible.
● Receiver (WL-60)
・AC adaptor (PSA adapter, sold separately)
・2 alkaline batteries (AA)

● Transmitter (WL-60T)
・2 alkaline batteries (AA)

Q: Battery life is short. Is this a malfunction?
A:
Check the following.
  • Is a mixture of old and fresh batteries being used?
The unit's full performance cannot be achieved when old batteries are also used. Such use can also result in fluid leakage from the batteries. Be sure to replace with all fresh batteries.
  • Can the batteries of different types be used?
Use batteries of the same type and model number.

Q: How long does the battery work when using continuously?
A:
This is as follows.
  • Receiver (WL-60): Approx. 10 hours with alkaline batteries
  • Transmitter (WL-60T): Approx. 25 hours with alkaline batteries
    * Battery life during continuous use can vary depending on usage conditions and temperature.

Q: Can the transmitter (WL-60T) be used with the BOSS KATANA-AIR, WL-20, WL-20L, or WL-50?
A:
Such use is not possible.
The transmitter (WL-60T) is exclusively for the receiver (WL-60).

Q: The device offers ultra-low latency. What is the extent of the latency?
A:
The latency is 2.3 ms.
The wireless technology developed by BOSS achieves a stable connection with high-quality sound at ultra-low latency.

Q: What are the differences between the WL-60 and the WL-50?
A:
The WL-50 offers plug-and-play usage conveniently as follows.
  • The transmitter (WL-T) is plug-in type and can be inserted directly into the guitar.
  • Radio-wave channel is set automatically once plugging the transmitter to the receiver (and wait for approx. 10 sec). Setting each channel is not necessary.
  • Lithium batteries are used for the transmitter (WL-T).

The WL-60 works greatly in case you use situations like sessions and live performances, as described below.
  • The transmitter is body-pack type and easy to use with a wide variety of guitars, and allows moving around without worry.
  • The channel is set by automatic scanning or manually, and signal status can be checked on the large display.
  • Dry-cell batteries are used as the power supply, eliminating the time of recharging.
