Los Angeles, California, May 23, 2024—BOSS introduces the Katana Gen 3 Guitar Amplifier lineup, the third generation of the best-selling Katana amp series. Refreshed with updated sounds and features, the seven Katana Gen 3 models deliver evolved performance to take guitar ambitions to the next level. New Tube Logic enhancements enrich the core platform with even greater sound, feel, and response, including an expressive Pushed amp character that edge-of-breakup fans will love. The BOSS Tone Studio app has also been updated, making remote amp and effects editing workflows more intuitive than ever.

Backed by the acclaimed BOSS Tube Logic amplifier architecture and reactive Class AB power, the Katana series has become a standard for guitarists everywhere since its introduction in 2016. Katana amps embody decades of BOSS development knowledge, offering professional, tube-inspired sound coupled with modern advantages like onboard effects, one-touch memory recall, deep sound customization, and variable power control. Katana Gen 3 elevates the lineup with even more range and versatility, providing a playing experience that goes where no other amps can.

Katana Gen 3 features refinements to the five amp characters available in previous Katana models, including the iconic high-gain Brown type. The new Pushed character spotlights internal dynamic enhancements with the pleasing touch-responsive gain of a clean combo driven into harmonic saturation. All six amp characters include a selectable variation, providing 12 distinctive tones to support every musical style. Some models also include a unique newly developed Bloom circuit that revoices the amp’s feel and response.

Katana Gen 3 amps provide five onboard effect categories with essential selections from the historic BOSS library. Booster, Mod, FX, Delay, and Reverb sections offer enhanced sound quality, grab-and-go parameter controls, and three variations each for access to 15 unique effects.

The updated BOSS Tone Studio software for macOS and Windows allows users to customize the onboard effects from 60 different types and tweak deep options not available from the amp’s panel. When the optional Bluetooth® Audio MIDI Dual Adaptor is installed, it’s possible to stream audio from a mobile device and wirelessly edit sounds using the BTS editor app for iOS and Android.

Katana Gen 3 amps offer expansive audio connectivity options and powerful tools for modern performers. Tone Setting memories let users store and recall complete amp/effect setups, while rear-panel jacks support remote control with footswitches and an expression pedal. All models except the Katana-50 Gen 3 also support the GA-FC and GA-FC EX Foot Controllers for complete stage control.

Katana-50 Gen 3: The entry-level Gen 3 model strikes the perfect balance of punch and portability, offering 50 watts of power in a compact 1x12 combo.

Katana-50 EX Gen 3: Extends the core features of the Katana-50 Gen 3 model with enhancements for live performers, including an upgraded speaker, GA-FC/GA-FC EX support, and more.

Katana-100 Gen 3: Equipped with 100 watts of power, the Katana-100 Gen 3 model delivers big, stage-ready sound in an easy-to-carry 1x12 combo.

Katana-100/212 Gen 3: This model offers rich, venue-filling sound with 100 watts of power and two custom 12-inch speakers.

Katana Head Gen 3: This compact head features 100 watts of power, a Bloom voicing option, and an onboard 5-inch speaker for practice and checking tones.

Katana Artist Gen 3: The flagship Gen 3 model delivers the ultimate Katana experience with 100 watts of power, a custom 12-inch Waza speaker, a Bloom voicing option, and a host of advanced tone tools.
